Mongolians are a people with an ancient culture of writing and have a tradition of writing scriptures with precious stones. The Altan Ganjuur Sutra has been damaged due to climatic factors or excessive dryness of the environment, resulting in the violation of the preservation and protection regime of cultural heritage, resulting in damage such as tearing, breaking, crushing, breaking, and disfiguring of letters in many volumes of the sutra, which necessitates a scientifically based study. Based on the environmental technology used in the study of the preservation and protection of cultural heritage, we conducted visual inspection (VT), XRF (X-Ray Fluorescence) elemental composition (two samples: paper and ink), optical microscopy of the paper fibers of the scripture (×200, ×400), polarized light microscopy, and SEM-EDS (Scanning Electron Microscopy -Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy) surface analysis of inorganic elements on the Altan Ganjuur Sutra. This study identified the characteristics and patterns of cultural documentary heritage and the causes of damage and deterioration through material analysis, which paved the way for the development of methods and recommendations to create appropriate environmental conditions and extend the lifespan of documentary heritage by clarifying the internal and external environmental impacts of the Altan Ganjuur Sutra.
